Myanmar army killed over 700 civilians in six months, UN says
More than 5,300 people remain trapped in online scam compounds along the Myanmar–Thailand border despite previous regional crackdowns, according to a human rights group. The victims, who come from multiple countries, are reportedly being forced to carry out online fraud under abusive conditions in compounds controlled by an armed militia. Rights groups are urging Thai authorities to take stronger action to rescue those still held and dismantle the remaining scam operations.
